North Carolina State University, more commonly abbreviated as N.C. State, is a public university located in Raleigh, North Carolina, the capital city of the Tar Heel State. The school was founded in 1887 and currently has over 30,000 students. Its athletic teams are known as the Wolfpack. When it comes to academics, N.C. State students know that it’s important to have the right textbooks – and to get them at reasonable prices for a college student’s budget. Luckily there are a number of choices students have in terms of where they can buy their books. Here are some details on local textbook stores on or nearby the N.C. State campus.

The N.C. State Bookstore is currently located in Harrelson Hall in the center of campus while construction is being done, which will provide a new location for the store. This bookstore has an inventory of most textbooks students need for their classes. Students can even get the booklist for their classes through the store’s website. Rentals, buybacks, and e-Books are other options available. The store sells a selection of Wolfpack gear and apparel along with electronics that include laptop computers and MP3 players. If you are looking for convenience, this official campus bookstore is the choice for you.

Hillsborough Street Textbooks is another bookstore option for N.C. State students. Located at 2420 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, HST offers everything a college student could need. This includes textbooks, Wolfpack gear, and other course materials. The store is located very conveniently for students right on Hillsborough Street, which runs to and from campus. Compared to other bookstores, HST has some of the lowest prices on used textbooks that are like new.

Edward McKay Used Books & More is a North Carolina-based bookstore with four locations and the one in Raleigh at 3514 Capital Boulevard. It was established in 1974. This location has over 10,000 square feet of space to house books and a host of other items, such as e-readers and iPods. The store sells textbooks as well and offers a unique place for students to come and find cheaply priced used books. In addition, books can be purchased, sold to the store, and even traded for other books. So if you have older textbooks collecting dust underneath your bed, you could trade them for new books at no extra charge at Edward McKay’s bookstore.

Packbackers Student Bookstore at 2900 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh is a great local option to find used textbooks that are a bit more affordable. This store has most books students need and is a goldmine for fans of the N.C. State Wolfpack athletic teams. Not only can you sell your old books back to the store for a decent rate, but you can also pick up anything from Wolfpack water bottles to golf club covers here. Packbackers has been described as a “handy” place and is only a quick trip away from the center of campus.
