The University of North Carolina is a public research university with its main campus in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Dating back to its original establishment in 1789, the school is one of the oldest public universities in the United States. It has a large student body with over 29,000 students that includes over 10,000 postgraduate students. If you are a North Carolina student and are looking for several options on where to buy your textbooks, you’re in luck! There are several outlets serving students in the Chapel Hill area. The following is information on each of these textbook stores:

The official on-campus bookstore is part of the UNC Student Stores. The bookstore sells new and used books for both students and faculty. The store’s website also has certain textbooks available as e-Books, making it more convenient to read your books right on your computer instead of lugging around a bunch of heavy hardbacks. The store also has a wide variety of team apparel for all the Tar Heel fans in Chapel Hill, especially the rabid basketball fans. (By the way, Michael Jordan played at North Carolina.) Other available items are school supplies and graduation regalia, such as caps and gowns, graduation announcements, and diploma frames. Additionally, the store hosts a variety of author events, which have included novelists and writers from Comedy Central and “Saturday Night Live.”

The Bulls Head Bookshop, located on the second floor of the Josephus Daniels Building, is a separate bookstore on the Chapel Hill campus. Originally created by an English professor in the 1920s, the shop is the perfect place for students to relax, read, and study. It sells all kinds of books, not just course textbooks.

Another option where you can find more used books is Tarheel Book Store. Open seven days a week, it is located in downtown Chapel Hill at 119 E. Franklin Street and occupies the first two floors of the Kuralt Building, which is considered a landmark in the area. TBS stocks plenty of “Carolina Blue” gear for North Carolina fans of all ages, including hats, t-shirts, kids clothing, and other gift items.

There is also a place in town to find thousands of used books, and you can get them at very reasonable prices. It’s called The Bookshop at 400 W. Franklin Street. Located right near campus, this store has an inventory of over 100,000 used and rare books. You can search and browse books online to make it more convenient to locate exactly what you need when you visit the store in-person.
