The University of Oklahoma is located in Norman, Oklahoma. This large university, which was established in 1890, has over 30,000 students, about two-thirds of which are enrolled in undergraduate programs. At larger schools like OU, it can be a challenge competing against other students in order to get the textbooks for you need – and have them on time for the start of the semester. Fortunately, there are several places in the Norman area where you can buy books. These include the following stores:
The University of Oklahoma Bookstore is the official bookstore at the school. For students who want to be guaranteed that they are receiving the correct course materials for their classes, this is the perfect option for shopping. One convenient feature that the store offers is the option to rent textbooks and then either return them to the store in-person or by mail. So if you’re not in town for whatever reason but need to get your books back so that other students can rent them, you can easily do it through the store’s website. Other products at the bookstore include Sooners apparel for fans of the OU athletic teams, dorm supplies, classroom supplies, and even discounted computer software for students.
Ratcliffe’s Textbooks offers a variety of new and used textbooks for Oklahoma students. Conveniently located at 1105 Elm Avenue, Ratcliffe’s is your source for new and used textbooks for both University of Oklahoma students and those attending other local colleges. The store has a great reputation and has served generations of students in the area since 1925. In addition to textbooks, you can find study aids and items for faculty here. It’s easy to go on the store’s website, enter your course information, and pull up the materials you need so that you’re ready to roll on the first day of classes. It’s always nice to be able to support local independent bookstores, and Ratcliffe’s has proven to be successful for a long time.
Sooner Textbooks is another bookstore option for OU students. Located at 745 Asp Street in downtown Norman, the store is open seven days a week. You can find almost every textbook either in stock or by ordering it at the store. Sooner Textbooks also sells a variety of Sooners souvenirs, hence the store’s name.
Barnes & Noble is a great place to shop if you’re a student. The nationally-known bookstore has a location in Norman just south of the Sooner Mall at 540 Ed Noble Parkway. This B&N store has extended hours on Sundays, which is something other bookstores don’t always offer. Find general books and textbooks here, in addition, to a variety of other items.
