The University of Iowa is a public research university based in Iowa City, Iowa. It is the oldest public university in the Hawkeye State as it was originally founded in 1847. The school has over 30,000 students and 12 different colleges. When it comes to buying textbooks, Iowa students have some different bookstores they can choose from to find the best possible deal and the best service. Here are some of those bookstores:
The University Book Store is the official campus textbook supplier of the University of Iowa in Iowa City. It’s in the Old Capitol Mall at 201 South Clinton Street. The store offers a wide range of options for textbook buyers or renters. You will find new and used books here as well as options to rent your books and a collection of some free e-books. You can really save money on certain books if they are available digitally. Other items at the store include loads of Hawkeyes merchandise, technology software and supplies, graduation items, and certain back-to-school items that are discounted at the beginning of each semester.
Iowa Book is a great independent bookstore that has served University of Iowa students for over 80 years and has a great reputation in the community. The store offers new and used textbooks and also buys used books from students for reasonable prices. Conveniently located at 8 South Clinton Street, the store has a variety of Hawkeye gear and apparel for men, women, and kids. You can also find computer software here and save money it with your Iowa student ID. Other merchandise includes videos and general books along with all kidns of gifts, calendars, and collectible items. You won’t go home empty-handed when you shop at Iowa Book.
Beat The Bookstore is a new and used book supplier also in the Old Capitol Mall in downtown Iowa City at 201 South Clinton Street, Suite 111. This store makes it a priority to “beat” the prices at other bookstores by offering the most reasonably priced textbooks around. Along with offering books at low prices, they will also buy back your books from any college or university as long as you show your college ID. You can rent books as well here. One bonus of Beat The Bookstore is that they buy back books all year long, not just at certain times of the year (such as the end of the semester).
The Book Shop is a long-standing local bookstore at 600 Dubuque Street conveniently located in downtown Iowa City. The staff at this store is committed to finding the right books for all of its customers at the lowest prices. Even if the store does not have the books you need in stock, they have contacts all over the world who they can work with to find the materials you need. Plus they trade books, too, giving you a chance to get rid of books you no longer need or already read and want to give someone else a chance to use.
