Central Michigan University, also known as CMU, is a large public research educational institution in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Founded in 1892, the school now has a student population of just over 28,000. Most students at the school are enrolled in undergraduate programs. CMU’s sports teams are called the Chippewas. CMU students have some options on where to purchase their textbooks. Here are the best places to shop on campus and around Mount Pleasant:

The CMU Bookstore is the official campus bookstore that has served Central Michigan students since 1960. The store is located in the heart of campus inside the Bovee University Center. The CMU Bookstore is fully stocked with all the textbooks students need. The staff here works directly with CMU professors, ensuring students are able to purchase the right materials for each of their classes. New and used textbook options are available. The store also sells Apple products, including computers, software, and iPods. Plus they even sell video game consoles. Chippewas gear and clothing are for sale as well.

The Student Book Exchange at 209 East Bellows Street in Mt. Pleasant is an excellent off-campus option for textbooks. SBX serves Central Michigan and a few other local community colleges. They have some of the most reasonably priced new and used books you will find in town. You can also order rental books and either pick them up at the store or have them shipped to you. In addition, they have an e-mail newsletter you can sign up for to receive special discounts and offers on books. Plus they hold contests where students can win free textbooks for life. It’s really a student-oriented store, and the staff here does everything possible to help students walk out with books in their hands and plenty of money left in their wallets. Don’t forget that you can also exchange books for new ones and not have to pay anything extra in many cases.

Paperback Book Exchange is a great bookstore worth checking out. It’s at 1811 South Mission Street in downtown Mt. Pleasant. This store specializes in buying, selling, and trading paperback books. They primarily focus on dealing more with general books and novels, but they will work with you if you have paperback books that you’ve used for your classes. They have a great selection and will gladly buy your books as long as they are in a usable condition. Plus you can get money for any books you may have taking up space in your closet. Then you can use that money to buy your new books.
