Rice University is a private research educational institution located in Houston, Texas. The school was founded in 1912 and has a student population of just over 6,000. The school’s sports teams are called the Rice Owls. Students at private schools always need options when it comes to purchasing their textbooks. Since Rice is a smaller school, there aren’t a ton of local places to go. But here is some information on where Rice students should look in the Houston area and online for textbooks:

The Rice University Official Bookstore located right inside the Ley Student Center is the main campus textbook provider for Rice students and faculty. The store has an inventory of every book and course materials for every class offered at the university, and the store can order any materials it does not already have in its possession. Their used books and rental options can save you lots of money. Save up to 25% by purchasing used books, up to 50% by renting your books, and up to 60% when you go for e-books. These e-books are available instantly via download. Other items in stock include tons of Owls gear for the die-hard sports fan as well as a selection of software titles and school supplies.

Textbook Madness is an online service providing textbook classifieds to Rice University students. You can easily go on the site and list your books along with a price. If another students should find your listing and is interested in buying your books, you will be contacted and can then arrange a deal on the books. You can also shop for yourself and browse tons of used books at great prices. This site is a perfect way to save money on your textbooks.

Textbook Brokers at 4635 Calhoun Road in downtown Houston has a great selection of textbooks for all college students going to school in the Houston area. Their stock includes tons of new and used textbooks, plus you can sell your old books to the store and collect some cash on the spot. They have online ordering options as well for your convenience.

Half Price Books at 2537 University Boulevard in downtown Houston is another good place to check out for your textbooks. Their prices tend to run lower than most bookstores, and their collection of used books is quite comprehensive. As a Rice student, you should be able to find either some of the course materials you need or a cool new leisure book to read and get your mind off school for a bit.
