Arizona State University (ASU) is a major public research university based in Phoenix/Tempe metropolitan area of Arizona. With a total of over 72,000 students enrolled on all four of its campuses, ASU is the largest university in the United States in terms of its student population. Founded in 1885, the school’s athletic teams are called the Sun Devils. As far as academics go, Arizona State students know how important it is to have the right materials for their classes and shop around to get the best deals on them. Here are some of the good bookstores to check out on campus and around the Phoenix area for textbooks:

The main campus bookstore is part of the Sun Devil Campus Stores at Arizona State University. This bookstore is located at 525 East Orange Street. Its inventory is quite extensive and includes all the books students need, regardless of their major or courses of study. This selection includes new, used, rental, and digital textbooks. All you have to do is put in your course information on the store’s website and it will bring up a list of every required and recommended book for each course. Other items for sale here are school supplies, technology items, graduation supplies, and tons of Sun Devils gear for fans of all ages. You know you will find what is on your list when you shop at this bookstore.

The College Store is a great off-campus bookstore and college supply outlet in Tempe. It is located at 1015 South Rural Road, which is a convenient spot near the center of the ASU campuses. This store has a huge inventory of used textbooks, and you’ll probably find cheaper books when buying them here because of how many are used and available for rent. But there are plenty of new books as well priced very reasonably. In addition, The College Store offers Sun Devils merchandise and plenty of school and dorm supplies for all students. It is well worth the trip to this store.

Student Book Center at 704 South College Avenue in downtown Tempe has served the Arizona State University community since 1967. SBC offers a wide range of textbooks available as brand new or gently used. They also offer certain books for rent, in addition to lots of Sun Devils souvenirs and sportswear. This store is family owned and operated as an independent bookseller, meaning you will get personalized service when you bring in your book list. The staff here will go all out to ensure you receive the best deals on your textbooks.

Half Price Books, Records, & Magazines is another terrific place to shop for books and other items. Along with general books, music, and magazines, this store does sell a fair share of used academic textbooks, and many are literally half the price of what you’d pay for them brand new. The staff is very knowledgeable about textbooks and can order them if they aren’t in stock. Plus you can pick up other items at cheap prices in their popular clearance section. Call them at 602-482-4100 to find out if they have the books you are required to have on their shelves.
