Portland State University (PSU) is a major public research university in Portland, Oregon. Originally established in 1946, the northwestern university enrolls about 30,000 students. The official school colors are green and white, and the athletic teams at the school are called the Vikings. Students at Portland State have a few options on where to buy their textbooks. Here are the best stores to check out for books:

The Portland State Bookstore is the official textbook provider of Portland State University students and faculty. It is housed right on campus at 1715 Southwest 5th Avenue in the PSU Urban Center Plaza. This store sells all the textbooks and course materials that are either required or recommended for classes at the university, meaning you will find exactly what you need when you shop here. You can buy or rent your textbooks at this store. You will also find a wide selection of other items, including school supplies, art supplies for students specifically enrolled in art classes, and even some electronics. The bookstore will buy your used books at certain times throughout the year so you can get cash to spend on the books you need for your upcoming classes. The store is open Monday through Saturday.

Powell’s City of Books is at 1005 West Burnside Street. Is a comprehensive independent bookstore in downtown Portland. Powell’s carries over a million books and takes up more than one city block. The company also has even more books available online. Powell’s has a nice selection of used textbooks available for purchase for Portland State students. Because these books are used, they are priced very inexpensively and may have some slight highlighting or marking. However, the bookstore will only sell textbooks that are in an adequate condition for students to use them. You can sell your used textbooks to the store as well to make some extra money or to clean our your closet and make room for your new books.

Barnes & Noble carries a huge selection of books in almost any genre imaginable, and this does include a variety of textbooks in various subjects and books frequently used in English and literature courses at Portland State. The B&N location in downtown Portland is at 1317 Lloyd Center. It is only a short distance from the Portland State campus. Along with books, B&N also sells the Nook e-reader, which is perfect for college students wanting to study on the go by using the device to read their digital textbooks.
