The University of Rhode Island, commonly abbreviated URI, is the primary state university in Rhode Island. It was founded in 1892, and its main campus is located in Kingston. URI enrolls approximately 20,000 students each academic year. The school has numerous athletic teams known as the Rams, and Rhody the Ram is the school’s official mascot. Rhode Island students have a few choices on where to buy their textbooks and course materials. Here are the best places to look:

The URI Bookstore is the official campus bookstore at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston. Housed inside the Memorial Union building, it is conveniently located within walking distance of most areas on campus so that students can easily get here from wherever they are. The store is fully stocked with all textbooks and course materials for students in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Plus the money you spend here goes directly back to the university to fund various student needs and organizations. Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., this bookstore offers all the possible options on textbooks, including new books, used books, rentals, and e-books. Many of the e-books are actually available for free on the bookstore’s website. You can also purchase URI Rams clothing, apparel, and game-day items to show off your school spirit. Gift cards are available as well. Most items can be purchased online.

The Rhode Island Book Company is an awesome place to shop off-campus for your textbooks. This may sound like a traditional bookstore, but it is almost entirely a college textbook store and has served the URI student body for many years. This bookstore is located at 99 Fortin Road and is just down the road from the URI campus. You will get great deals on textbooks when you shop here. The store carries one of the largest inventories of used textbooks that you will probably find in the entire state of Rhode Island. There are also lots of rental books available, in addition to new books and some e-books through the store’s website. You can order almost every book in stock through the store’s online shopping feature. The store is open seven days a week. Students enjoy shopping here because of the friendly staff members who are constantly trying to offer the lowest prices around.

Finally, King Hill Store at 2528 Kingstown Road is a small used bookstore in downtown Kingston. The store carries lots of used books and a small selection of textbooks used in various URI courses. The prices on the books here are extremely low. If you have some time to stop by the store, you just might find a few of the books you need. Call the store at 401-792-8662 for more information.
