Drake University is a very selective private university in Des Moines, Iowa. Established in 1881, Drake currently enrolls just over 5,000 students. The school’s athletic teams are known as the Bulldogs, and the official school mascot is called Spike. Drake students have a few options on where to buy their textbooks and course materials for each upcoming semester. Here are those options:

The University Book Store is the official campus bookstore at Drake University. It is conveniently located in the heart of campus at 3003 Forest Avenue. Open Monday through Saturday with occasional Sunday hours and extended hours at peak times, the University Bookstore carries all of the required and recommended textbooks for students to succeed in their courses. You can buy or rent your textbook here, and there is a nice selection of used textbooks to help students save some money. Plus you can sell your used books to the store for a reasonable buyback rate. Additionally, you can pick up lots of other items here, such as men’s and women’s team apparel, graduation supplies if you’re planning to graduate soon, technology items, and more. Most items for sale in the store are for sale online, making it easy and convenient for you to purchase your items when your schedule allows.

The Book Store at 606 Locust Street is a neat local bookstore in downtown Des Moines close to the Drake campus. This store may not specialize in selling college textbooks, but you will find a wide array of books on all subjects here, including a number of books commonly used in freshmen-level classes at Drake University and other local colleges. Stop in with your book list or give the store a call to find out if what you need is on the shelves here. Call 515-288-7267. Even if your books aren’t in stock, they can order them for you. The store is open Monday through Saturday.

There is also a Barnes & Noble location in Des Moines at 4550 University Avenue. Barnes & Noble is known for selling quality items and offering helpful customer service. At this B&N store, you can pick up tons of books, including several academic titles. Plus you can buy the Nook e-reader, a device that is perfect for students who have digital versions of their textbooks. The store’s website offers a huge selection of textbooks not found in the store, so be sure to check that out as well. The store itself is open seven days a week with late hours most days.
